Retrieve and record information from a non-fiction

In studying the poem, The Highwyaman, we discussed how we would research famous Highwyaman.

We came up with lots of different ideas of how we could find this information, e.g. In a non-fiction book.

Search engines were the Internet service that we chose for this purpose. We under tasting that using the Internet the information from a website is transferred to our screens. Using iPads meant that we were using wifi to connect to the Internet.

We discussed the reliability of the websites that we used, discussing how to also stay safe. We also continued to think about how search results are ranked and selected. For example, the top results may suggest that lots of people have visited it.

Finally, we thought about who owns the information. We decided that copying isn't fair or showing off all our hard work. To make sure we were acting fairly, we wrote the sources of information that we found online.

Using Search Engines

In studying the topic of modern Greece, Class Saturn used a search engine to find information.

Search results can be selected and ranked because of their popularity. This means those at the top may be more useful as lots of people have used them.

However, search results may also be ranked because the website has paid the search engine money. This may mean that it is not the best website for us to use to find information. This is something we have to be careful about as it may not give us the information we need.

This means we have to check the reliability of a website. To do this, we looked at the information it included, the name of the website and whether it answered the question we were researching.

We used the information we found out to help us understand more about modern Greece.
