Privacy Rules

In continuing to study e-safety, we are looking at the best ways to keep our privacy safe, as it is important to understand that websites can use your data to make money and target their advertising. By keeping certain information private, we protect ourselves in a variety of ways. This is particularly important when we are acting responsibly on social media.

Visit a well-known website, and, using the privacy checklist below, make a judgement about how safe your information is.
Using the comment section below, answer the question, using the information you have found from the checklist.

2) Below is an online profile, in the comment section below, explain which parts of the information are fine to share online and which parts should be kept private.

  19. We think Minecraft does a good job protecting your privacy because it has a link on the page

  21. Our checklist, which was based on twitter, was yes yes no yes yes.I think it does a good job protecting private info because it has a privacy policy which gives you info about the privacy on the website. The privacy policy button should be clearer as I did not find it until Zach told me where it was
2.The things that should be kept private are the email, school and date of birth. The things that are fine to be shown are the favorite sport and the name since it is only the first name.

  32. Twitter
Question 1- Yes, it states it on the twitter homepage that everyone can access without an account
Question 2- We do not know this because we need to log in...
Question 3- No because you have to scroll down and the text saying 'privacy policy' is small
Question 4- Yes in the privacy policy it says to contact privacy@twitter.com
Question 5- No it does not have a seal of approval

I think twitter is safe because if you have a private account you will be safe, if you don't like any photos, post anything or comment noone will follow your account and if you have an obscure username and password you will be safe.
